Ares - God of Punk: revisited

Oh yeah... he's hard core, now.


So, the story behind Ares is that he is the god of War- more specifically, the god of brutal combat. The other greek god of war was Athena, but she was more about strategy. So what happened?

With the advent of guns, physical strength on the battlefield has become more or less irrelevant. New technology and the brilliance of military leaders now decide the outcome of wars. Athena loves this. Ares hates it.

Now, in our modern world, Ares does just about everything he can to try to get people back to a more primitive lifestyle, or a "state of nature" if you will. That's right: He's an anarchist. More than that, he's a lead guitarist and lead vocalist for the punk band that he formed with some of his mythological family and cohorts, Eris, Phobos, and Demios.

His daughter Harmonia, however, is a constant source of embarassment. The goddess of harmony and concord, she fell into the Hippie groove, and never fell back out of it. Ares almost goes to the point of hiding his relation to her out of shame, but most of the time he just avoids her because she annoys the shit out of him. That being said, they've still maintained something of a relationship, due to her peace-making nature.



Harmonia's design is probably next on my to-do list, as the Loki design will probably pose little to no challenge. I've also got to get around to designing Phobos, Demios, and Eris.
